 4 and nine is just too young to appreciate the sceanery unless they are
extra mature.

Yeah, I know.  My kids have travelled more in their 4 and 9 years
(respectively) than I did in my first 25 (not counting Dad's military
service, but he was in one place for a long time).  Laura and I have
decided
to have an inexpensive local "kid" vacation every year (or go to the
grandparents' in Fla.) and have a nice husband/wife trip every other
year.

My oldest left for college this week, so she didn't get to go with us.
She
would have thought the place was a gas.  I don't know if the other two
are
too young to appreciate these places or they're just spoiled.  I hope
it's
the former...

Boring?  Boring?!?  They thought it was boring?  I'd give anything to do
something like that myself.  Seattle's a beautiful place!  My parents
took
me
up there when I was a kid, and I went up there on a Girl Scout camping
trip
in
junior high.  Loved it!
