Good for you.
My father and grandparents changed from Walther when they came here in 1940,
evidently preferring variant spelling and correct pronunciation (Walther in
German sounds the same as Walter in English [except for the W/V change]) over
Germanically correct spelling with English mispronunciation, and their heirs
and assigns having to correct everybody's mispronunciation forever. From
time to time I have toyed with reverting to the original spelling, but that
would mean changing my name, so screw it.
