Hi Tom,
I have used NIMH batteries in the AA battery holder and they do work when
the NIMH batteries are fully charged. The problem is that the THF6A has a
cut off voltage of around 4.8 volts and the minute your NIMH batteries fall
below 1.2 volts per battery, the rig quits. My NIMH batteries do charge up
to 1.34 or 1.35 volts and the batteries have worked for several hours but
not as long as the original battery that fcame with the rig, but that's good
enough for me!

Subject: batteries for THF6A
Does anyone on the list have any experience with running the THF6A with
nickel metal hydride batteries, using the battery case you can get for the
rig? In the instructions, they seem to mention only alkaline batteries,
although I can't believe NIMH batteries wouldn't work.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks much and best 73 from Tom Behler: KB8TYJ
