Your question should be rephrased: can a PC be used as a ROUTER. The answer
is yes, but it depends on your operating system. A Linux/UNIX box can do it,
as can Windows 2000 server (or NT server). There is a small application
called FreeCisco that fits on a floppy disk and makes your PC into a simple
router.
If all you are wanting is to have a PC share its Internet connection, then
Win98, WinME and XP can all allow for this function. It is called connection
sharing, and it is enabled as part of the Internet RAS connection
configuration.
