This is something I am trying to verify, but it is my understanding that XP
Pro has a limit of 10 connections, which is the same as Win 2000. You would
need Win 2000 server (considerably more expensive) to break the 10
connection limit. There are also patches available to bypass the limit, but
they are a violation of the license agreement. It is unfortunate that
Microsoft took this approach to force the server product on us when we don't
need the extra overhead.

I agree. The owner of my school wants to network computers at another
business he owns (7 computers) and use one to function as the database for
the program the others will use. It appears he won't be able to use XP Home
on that particular computer. I'll tell him he needs XP Pro. I've seen
computers in magazines advertising Win 2000. Is that better?
