Hi Team,

Recently i was asked by a friend to overhaul his computer and being fairly competent i said i would format the hard drive, partition it into 2 drives and then reinstall winxp.

Everything went smoothly until finally having installed all the drivers/ software etc i had a look in system devices and to my horror there was a yellow circle with a black question mark. Delving deeper into this, the error message that was displayed was "V9X HAM 1394V this device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (code 12)".

I then proceeded to try everything i could think of to rectify this fault even changing settings in the bios but to no avail. The microsoft knowlege base proved fruitless as did my computer literate friends who all suggested what i had already tried.

I'm sure someone out there has an a
nswer for this conundrum and any feedback would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance
Paul

PS the system spec is as follows:

MS-6382 v1.0 mobo with onboard sound
V9X HAM 1394V modem
LAN card
256Mb RAM
Geforce 4 Graphics card
