The Beetle I had was a 1968 model, don't remember if the glass was tempered
glass or not. I sold it to my fiance after graduation (for $25!) because my
dad was buying me a new car. Ironically, my fiance decided to come up to DC
from NC on his motorcycle, because it was a brand-new touring cycle, and he
thought it'd be safer than a old VW Beetle on the road. But a drunk driver
upset that logic (the drunk ran head-on into Jimmy's motorcycle), but
honestly, I don't think the Beetle would have been any safer in that
situation, either.
