Hi to all,
I also enjoyed a wonderful dining experience. I do want to add one word of
warning.
Many of us have found that with the burden of being Celiac, may come the
additional burden of having a hard time losing weight. Many of us get too
thin from the disease, while others gain and gain and in spite of many diet
programs, cannot seem to lose.
Eating gluten free baked products and foods cause us to ingest many, many
more calories than ordinarily consumed by people eating "regular" pastas and
cakes. My advise is to be careful, and only consume a reaonable amount.
Somebody once told me about Pamela's GF brownie mix and for a while there I
was eating a whole bunch of them nearly every other day. Gluten free does
not mean calorie free, or that we will not gain weight. Abusing food is
still abusing food, and thereby abuses our bodies. I hate to stick a fork in
this eating with abandon idea, but I have been thin all my life (while being
highly Celiac and undiagnosed), once I was diagnosed two years ago I gained
24 pounds from eating the right foods, and finally, for the first time in my
life, absorbing them into my intestine. It took me a long time to lose this
weight, and it is something I am working on all the time. Believe me,
nobody gets fat from just being Celiac. There still has to be moderate
eating and an exercise program.
Now that I've been a wet blanket, let me tell you that Caffee Baldo is worth
the trip, and that anyone not living in New York should call or write them to
encourage them to start mailing out.
