yes but they used a lot of energy to get it . I just saw a movie that is
called "the great dance " that follow kung hunters during their hunts . One
hunt they spent 6 hours running non stop after a band of kudus ,they missed
that hunt because the kudus got refuge in the nearby park where they are not
allowed to hunt ( prison will be the sentence ) in an other hunt they found
porcupine ( 3 for 3 hunters ) they ate one animal each to give them the
strengh for the hunt that could bring meat to the rest of the group ( womens
and childrens mostly), after the meal they do a ceremoniy where they makes
small cuts all along their legs for them to be able to stand the pain of
running for a long time . We see one hunter runni9ng for 4 hours after one
kudu non stop till the exhausted kudu wait exhausted to be killed by a spear
thrown at close range ( the kudus doesn't move and wait till the 3rd spear
make him fall dead. the 3rd throw is the same spear that the first that have
been pulled out after the second throw din't kill yet , he was very prudent
while doing that as those animals have big horns ). because the kudu was so
big , after the other hunters tracked this hunter and joined him ( they can
read an amazing lot of informations by reading tracks as a part of the movie
was showing ) they decided to dry it before bringing it back to the camp
that was very far ( 2 days walk away i can remember)
the scene of their arrival is very moving ,the womens and childrens and old
peoples are dancing ,laughing out of joy , the meat is shared and it is
amazing how the children are so avid of that stuff, having to content
themselves often with only plants foods .
this movie was followed by an other one , years later that show the kungs
now living in camp fed by governments or from their work at farms . The
other movie about the hunt is showed to them and they recorded the reactions
( one guy went to his tent during the show and came dressed the traditional
way( skin ) instead of worn out full of holes shorts and tee shirts .
it was so hurtfull to learn that those once very joyfull peoples ( still
are ,more than western peoples anyway ) were forbidden to hunt ,they had
nowhere to go left to them . they wanted to go back so badly to that way of
living despite that most of the kungs now have never been raised that way.
,only the older peoples could remember and share this lost useless
knowdledge

they were by force because it is so difficult to hunt in the kalahari
desert. ( had to travel long distances tracking for days the rare animals ).

it is a pity that park have been made to protect animals and none done to
protect the humans living the true life .
By the way the dna testing showed that we are all closely related to the
kungs , they are our living ancestors .

"The great dance ,a hunter'story " followed by 2000/sense africa. directors
Craig Foster and Damon Foster.
worth to see.
