Just tried out a new CPU in my rig - it's an AMD 2500+ with the new 'Barton'
core - 0.13 micron.
The previous CPU was an AMD 2400+ regular.
Couple of odd results: First, according to SiSoftSandra, the 2500+ has a
'true' speed of 1.84Mhz, which is slower than the 2400+ at 2.0Mhz.
So I ran the SiSoftSandra CPU test and got 5032 Dhrystones and 2525
Whetstones for the 2500+, while the 'slower' 2400+ clocked up 5540 and 2730.
By this time I was planning to return the 2500+ to the wholesaler.
So to cross-check, I ran 3DMark 2001. Another oddity - my previous mark
with the old 2400+ had been 11223, but with the new 2500+ it shot up to
11,769.
Anyone able to comment on these apparent anomalies?
