But, in that particular case that was not the point.
If memory serves the man was a Hindu who specifically
chose to eat at McDonald's (instead of BK, et al.)
because they advertised 'fried in vegetable oil'. He
believes he is now 'unclean' because of the animal
source contaminents. A Hasidic Jew could make the same
argument if he found out the oil contained some pork
fat.

In paleo terms, this would be the same as ordering a
hamburger and finding out after eating it that it was
actually a cleverly disguised soy burger. Which, I'm
sure, would piss most of us off royally.
