OK, folks, I feel kind of silly here, cause I have no clue what I'm doing,
but if you don't ask, you can't learn, right?
As indicated on another thread, I am looking to install a Maxtor 40 GB hard
drive as my primary drive, and make an existing 8 GB hard drive a slave.
When I purchased the drive, I got a Maxtor Utra ATA/100 PCI Adapter Card,
free after rebate. Who was I to refuse?
So, now that I have it, what is it? What purpose does it serve? Do I need
it/want to install it?
According to Belarc Advisor, my HP8380 currently has the following:
Controllers
Standard Floppy Disk Controller
Intel 82371AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller
Primary IDE controller (dual fifo)
Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo)
Bus Adapters
Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
Any insite you can offer would be gratefully accepted.
