You ask really good questions. I'm always so happy every time I hear that
someone is breastfeeding. I doubt if there is much information out
there on breastfeeding while in ketosis-just like issues that deal with
pregnancy, it's not really ethical to perform studies or experiments.
But as a mother who also breast fed (three children-at least two years
each), I would not recommend trying to stay in ketosis while
breastfeeding. Your body is working very hard to provide for your baby.
I would focus more on trying to eat natural foods and avoiding foods to
which you or your baby may have sensitivities. I have read somewhere that
consuming allergy causing foods (like dairy) while pregnant can cause
allergies and asthma in the child.
I personally ate a lot of dairy with my first son and he does have asthma,
so it was very chilling for me when I read that. I was just trying to
make sure we both had enough calcium, but I didn't know how bad milk was
for us at that time.
I would definitely cut out those grains, though. Try an elimination diet
to see what food are giving you problems. They say that the foods that
you are allergic to are the ones that cause the intense hunger and once
you get them completely out of your system, the hunger goes away.
I haven't tried it yet, I'm in the planning stages, just like you, but I'm
hoping that it's true because I have similar problems with hunger.
