Sorry this is so long in coming. I got so many helpful responses. Thank you
so much to all who took the time to respond. Summary re: problems with
pancreas, gallbladder, liver-
-non-functional gallbladder (does't show on ultrasound, shows on dye test)
-gallbladders that adhere to the liver
-olive oil and lemon juice gallbladder cleanse with plenty of fluids (apple
and prune juice)
-cut back on protein, sugar, and phosphorous
-check out delphiforums.com/celiac/messages
-Hidascan (nuclear medicine test) for gallbladder function
-ultrasound for gallstones - gallbladder removed, felt much better
-recommended no gallbladder surgery- pain continued after removal
-hypothroid/celiac connection
-elevated ALT(liver test) is common in celiac, autoimmune hepatitis can also
occur
-elevated amalyse can be macroamylasemia, also common in celiacs(elevated
amalyse w/ normal lipase)
-CAT scan can check pancreas
-difficulty digesting fats in celiacs,
-look for other food allergies or hidden gluten sources
-hysterectomy as a trigger for CD
-pancreatic enzymes aid digestion
-get checked for H. pylori -can lower stomach acid production
-celiac/high cholesterol connection

-celiac /gallbladder problems/ primary biliary cirrhosis connection (ck.
bilirubin, antimicrobial antibodies)
-avoid acidic and bitter foods to aid delayed gastric emptying and gastritis
and eat low fat
-use Jarrow (policosanol) for elevated cholesterol and vita-lipotronics for
the liver
