I have noticed on several occasions that when I eat some cooked chicken on
its own, I start coughing, and this may continue in short bursts for a
little while before stopping.

Could this be some kind of a cleansing reaction? It certainly doesn't feel
bad, and it's not a really deep, intense kind of cough - just a bit of
cleaning out, it seems. I'm not aware of any current problems with my
lungs, but I do know that as a child I used to have frequent and persistent
coughs.

I haven't noticed anything like this happening when I eat the chicken
together with vegetables, and I haven't tried to see whether raw chicken or
other meats will do it too.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? It's not something I'm worried about
- I'm just curious as to what might be going on.

Regards,
Barbara
