I seem to recall reading what seemed to be a reasonably authoritative
article, (may even have been in the Australian PC User mag) about
Uninterruptible Power Supply units, and which stated that, unless you were
prepared to spend quite a bit on a UPS, you are probably wasting your money.

If I remember correctly, it was something to do with the power of the
average lightning strike being way outside the capabilities of most
consumer-level UPS units, except for the heaviest duty, commercial models.

Someone else might like to comment on this.
