We have two versions of USB1/or 2. It is evidently that Via Tech 3038 PCI to USB chipset
use USB1 (12MB/s). However the new Lexmark can use USB2 (480 MB/s)?

Sounds like you remove some mobo drivers.
You should to reinstal the mobo chipset drivers first.

In any case before instalation of new hardware or software you
should to save the REGISTRY (system.dat & user.dat) in restore
folder. Then you can restore the last working state.
