Mysterious Blue Screen

When my computer boots into W98SE with a PaperPort 3100USB scanner turned
on, I get a blue screen with the message:

KEYBUGCHECKEX:
Called by C005cd2f
Errorcode is 44
c160c300 0 0 0

Of course the scanner does work perfectly if I turn everything on "after"
the system settles down after boot, but sometimes I forget and leave the
switch on. The message is similiar to the ones I have seen in NT and W2000.
The scanner is not supported in any other OS, I wish I could use it with XP!
I have had no response from the MFG of the product and can find nothing
using Google or others thatīs usefull.
My system is a PII-350, 256mb PC100 ram, 20 and 8 gig WD, Tekram MB w/BX
chipset, dual boot with XPHome. This problem has existed for close to two
years and reinstalling has had no affect (even before XP). Thanks for your
help.

About the 13 gig HD and network card problems... I would also try to clear
the CMOS, it could have been corrupted somehow, and see if the MB would now
detect and communicate everything.
