Having healed against all odds from advanced metastasized kidney cancer in
1992, I have to agree with Chris. There is NO guarantee that you will not
develop cancer, despite eating a Paleo diet or a modification of it.
For the past 10 years I have worked as a psychotherapist with many cancer
patients, who have had a wide variety of eating styles, from high
carbohydrates, low fat to high protein, low carbs years PRIOR to developing
cancer. I eat a variety of meats, vegetables, fruits, eggs, cheese and the
occasional "forbidden" grain. I take vitamins and nutrients daily, exercise
regularly, meditate to reduce stress and do the best I can on a day to day
basis. Lots of factors play into cancer developing besides what we eat.
Enviornment, lifestyle, heredity, emotional health and how we handle stress
on an ongoing basis, as stress, depression etc. depresses the immune system.
Long term depression of the immune system allows cancer to develop a foothold
and begin to grow. We all have cancer cells in our bodies at any given time.
A healthy immune system is the first line of defense. It is just too
simplistic to blame cancer on a high carbohydrate, low fat diet. That may be
a contributing factor for some cancers, but it is far from the only one.
