Richard--I totally agree with what you've said. I wonder if you know that a
type 1 diabetic, as I am, can also have insulin resistence which is typical
of type 2s. I learned this recently from my endocrinologist. Previously I
too thought all type 1s were skinny and all type 2s were fat. You gave a
much better explanation re diabetes than I did. And I agree that diet has an
immense influence on the development of type 2. IMO, especially in America
where so many of us have "pioneer" ancesters who wouldn't have survived to
breed unless they indeed had the "type 2 tendency;" had those ancestors not
been the ones who survived periods of famine, we would not be here.
