I had to laugh at the following sentence:

A decade or more ago, the FCC abandoned their original displayable license
designs in favor of the present plain, boring wallet-sized licenses and
hidden away.

I was licensed in 1977 and have never had anything but the plain, boring
wallet-sized license.  This looks like a very cool little item to put on my
ham radio want list.
