see my second message as for some reason the numbers got stripped with the spell checker. I sure wish I could get it to read the misspelled word in context but sometimes the error is not even on the message Payne.

Thank You!

    Hi Bret,

If I recall my old theory, you neeed to know where the losses occur. So,
you have a 50-Watt output, but you have -3 Db loss in the transmission line
and duplexer. This reduces your power considerably at the antenna before
you apply the one Db. gain.

I think my old license book had tables to apply the logarithmic formula for
power as well as voltages based on decibel equivalents.

I am working on the extra and a question on decibel got our local tech net =
going last night. =20

If you have a transmitter with a 50 wat output a db -3db and db loss in =
transmission lines duplexers and combiner with an antenna with a db gain, =
what is your output in watts?

Can anyone tell me how to solve this step by step. I assume you integrate =
the losses and gains for a total system gain of 2db but am not sure how to =
plug that into the formula.

Can you convert all to logs and vis versa to make the problem simpler?

Thank You!
