Wish I could remember the arguments, but I know that as a result of reading
many posts (some referencing recent research) I began to use the seeds
again.
I don't recall anything saying that flax oil caused or exacerbated breast
cancer; I think the argument was that it was not as effective as freshly
ground seeds put immdiately on cottage cheese. The seed and oil do seem to
have different properties to some extent.
Assuming that both prostate and bc are somewhat hormone related, my cancer
list was struck by recent research showing that men with prostate cancer
fared worse when supplementing with flax oil. It may not have been totally
valid research, I don't know, but it did get our attention.
Sorry I'm not much help. Bottom line appears to be that if you grind the
seeds and throw them immediately on organic cott. cheese, you probably are
helping yourself. I do remember that 3 tablespoons ground seeds = 1
tablespoon oil.

it sounds like what Amadeus has been saying - that the seeds have
cancer-fighting lignans, and the oil does not contain them (unless you get
the high-lignan kind, which only has a little)
