Speech Enabling Applications (SEA) Class

This hands-on course teaches how to maximize productivity by customizing
Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 6 Professional products with the
Advanced Scripting language, which is similar to Visual Basic for
Applications (VBA). Creating Dragon NaturallySpeaking macros allows you
to accomplish routine tasks more quickly, automate a complex series of
tasks (saving time and brain-power), enhance the hands-free capabilities
of the software... Attendees will learn how to use the Advanced
Scripting Editor to create custom commands (macros). They will also
practice using the Command Browser, to find existing commands and manage
custom commands. Previous programming experience is helpful, but NOT
required. Topics covered include:

-What makes a good custom command?
-Managing commands (editing, importing, exporting)
-Using custom commands from earlier DNS releases (DVC commands written
in DNS 4 or DNS 5 and RADLink)
-Basic elements of programming (variables, procedures, flow control
structures, concatenation...) -Controlling another application through
its application programming interface (API) -Communicating with the user
(incl. displaying dialog boxes into which the user can dictate and enter
data) -Recording macros in applications such as Microsoft Word and
reusing them in Advanced Scripting commands

This course does NOT cover:
