Hello,

Currently our office is using Kurzweil 3000 to scan and OCR books.
I have a few students with severe mobility impairments that read
their books using MS Word 2000 or Text Aloud MP3 and they
need their books in Text only format. However, when I converted the
files from KESI (Kurzweil files) to Text files the formatting made the
book almost incomprehensible. Then I tried OmniPage Pro 10 to
scan and OCR to get a better quality of recognition. This turned out
to be VERY slow! The problem is that the books I need scanned
have a lot of pictures and colored backgrounds and it messes up
the recognition of the text. Does anyone have any advice on
software? What does everyone else use to scan books for use with
screenreaders?

Thanks in advance,

Adrienne
