The National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) has been selected to
testify about the need for additional funding for Centers for Independent
Living (CILs). Last year, Title VII, Part C (funding for CILs) received an
additional $4.5 million in the 2002 budget.

This year President Bush budgeted an additional $7 million, NCIL is
requesting the amount be increased to $25 million.

REPRESENTATIVES of every CIL AND SILC within a 6 state radius of DC, as
well as friends in the larger disability rights community are encoraged to
attend the hearing.

WHEN: APRIL 30, 1:00 P.M. ET

WHERE: Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2358 (3rd Floor), DC

Capitol South Metro is closest, but Union Station is only 5-6 blocks away
if you cut across the US Capitol driveway.

Additionally, please contact members of the US House Appropriation's
Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education from your
area (see list below) and encourage them to attend the hearing or to send a
staff person.
