I just received a call from a friend with a computer network, running Win95a
with Verizon DSL.
Approximately 9 hours after the network is turned on, the DSL service shuts
down. Only a reboot will re-activate it.
This happens every day without fail. Verizon will not offer any support as
it is a network. If the computer is rebooted for other reasons during the
day, the shutdown does not seem to occur during working hours.
He is at some distance from me, and I would like to know if anyone has any
ideas before I go take a look at the problem.
He is not particularly computer literate, and I am not a DSl expert. I am
quite sure he has minimal, if any, virus protection.
I suspect some software glitch, such as a virus or a phone-home application,
but I'm not really sure how to proceed.
TIA for any assistance.
