The course, Barrier-free E-learning, focuses on problems and solutions
in making e-learning systems accessible to students and faculty with
disabilities. This an instructor-led, interactive, month-long online
course. Registration, payment and syllabus are at:
http://easi.cc/workshops/bfel.htm

After a mad rush into online learning, schools are stepping back and
evaluating whether it is a good thing or not; whether it saves or costs
money; whether it facilitates learning for all students, some or none;
and whether the systems already in place are accessible to their
students and faculty with disabilities. Few schools even thought about
this issue in their original rush to join the online crowd.

The instructgor of this course has been teaching online for almost 20
years. Although he has a disability, most of the students do are
able-bodied as far as one can tell in an online setting.

The 8 lessons are:

Lesson 1 Introduction
Lesson 2 Adaptive technology interfaces
Lesson 3 accessible web design
Lesson 4 Guest presenters share experiences and information
Lesson 5 Tips for faculty and content providers
Lesson 6 accessible Internet Multimedia
Lesson 7 Beyond the online delivery of e-learning
Lesson 8 System-wide planning and designing for access

Anyone completing 5 courses will earn the Certificate in Accessible
Information Technology.
