No, shut down the computer, then disconnect the data cable from the slave drive, then disconnect the power plug from it, then boot up again. It will be as if the drive is not there, and you shouldn't get any beeps or anything else.
>i double checked the cables and it is securely plugged. i also tried to slot in the cables in both ide slots but still no answer. i tried disconnecting the power supply from the drive
>but i got a series of beeps (like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode!!) it doesnt boots of so i turned it off.

>>>Before you do anything, check to make sure the data ribbon cable is securely plugged in and that the power plug is also securely plugged in. I've had my computer report no drives on channel 1 (CD-ROM & CD-RW) because one of the data cables was not pushed all the way in.If nothing is loose, then try completely disconnecting the slave drive from the data cable and from the power supply. If it boots up then, you've got a bad drive.
>>>my friends pentium 133, 32 mb pc wont boot windows and it says "Primary
