The via website has pages, pages, and more pages of threads on their FAQS
about this. One thread by itself is 6 pages long! Device manager says it is
there and is working properly, but its not. All of the sound part in
multimedia is greyed out. Volume control icon is missing. This is the
VT82C686A chip.
One work around that I found close to the end was to use their disk to
uninstall the drivers, search for viaudio.inf, and delete all instances from
Windows\system and anywhere. Download 68mu200a.zip from them and choose
win9x drivers instead of Win 98SE, and it will work. Sometimes it takes a
reboot to make it show up in multimedia as (DC00), mine didn't.
The cd that came wit it might work as long as you don't use the SE drivers.
thanks
ed

Your motherboard should have came with a cd with system board drivers there
you should find your audio drivers. Next you can do a windows update and
microsoft will see if it has latest audi drivers .
