This point is made very well in the current issue of Scientific America
which also points out the fallacy of the "fat-clogging theory" first made
popular by John Harvey Kellogg.

The largest nutrition study ever done ( The Harvard Nurses Study) showed no
correlation between fat consumption and heart disease. Only glycemic load
carbs) was positively associated with such disorders.

As pointed out in "The Soft Science of Dietary Fat" article in Science,
people who have been studied in Mediterranean regions have experienced lower
rates of heart disease as their consumption of animal fats has recently
increased.

Perhaps you might suggest to your doctor that he get current with the
literature.
