If the Palestinian militants were using only guerrilla tactics to fight the
Israeli army (rather than using suicide bombers) even the pro-Israeli
conservatives in the US would have a hard time using the issue of terrorism
to ignore the Palestinian plight.
To hear it from the conservatives (including Bush and his advisers), the
whole problem in the Middleast is about terrorism and "evil doers". This is
one major (and very unfortunate) by-project of suicide bombing - and not to
mention how barbaric it is, as Ngorr pointed out.
I agree with others like Dave and Joe that the Palestians have been
oppressed for a long time but there are still tactics left to be used that
are legitimate and morally defensible without resorting to barbaric acts
like suicide bombing. It makes defending a legitimate cause extremely
difficult.
