Hope your friends in Little Ferry lived in the dry part, if there is one, or that they had scuba gear and lots of flood insurance.
Several years back I worked in Little Ferry on a former Holiday Inn that had such severe structural problems (due to its having been built on a swamp) that it had been deaccessioned by HI and converted into a combination Japanese Restaurant (where real Japanese went--very strange) and overnight truck stop. How this building survived the heaving (it looked like it had been built of rectangular parts on an unmade bed), I don't know, but we put in pilings underneath and it's still there.

I'll take Manhattan.
