I have seen the "Alice's Restaurant" movie only once, quite a few years
after its initial release, but also quite a few years ago. Maybe I should
see it again.

As I remember, I liked a lot of it (admittedly I have some residual
fondness for Arlo Guthrie), but I also squirmed with vicarious
embarrassment at how nakedly self-indulgent it was. It was also a bit
like the guest who won't leave -- I kept expecting it to end, and it just
went on and on and on.

I don't remember how it ended, exactly, but it seems to me that it was at
least downbeat if not depressing. Another end-of-the-Sixties film.
