Mokushan is an Innu tradition, not Inuit. Innu are a Native tribe from
the boreal forest regions of Labrador & NE Quebec, and are not the same
as Inuit. They are most closely related to the Cree and Naskapi in
language and traditions.

highly prized. these two
excerpts indicate this in the case of Inuit..

The caribou was of special importance, and was
celebrated at a special
feast, called a 'Mokushan', at which quantities
of caribou fat and bone
marrow were consumed.
