Hi Jane,
As I understand it, the candida thrives on sugar and if the candida gets out
of control, the candida needs more sugar so the body craves it.
It might not be exactly how it works but that's how I like to picture it.
As I was killing off the candida the cravings diminished.
The L-Glutamine I read about in a couple of books about sugar. I also read
Dr Atkins Vita Nutrient book which lists every mineral, vitamin, amino acid
etc that you can think of and gives it's uses, deficiency symptoms and
recommended supplements. It said that L-Glutamine is good for addictions,
particularly alcoholics and sugar addicts. It recommended taking a teaspoon
whenever the urge for sugar hits.
The last couple of days I've been eating quite low carb and today I'm
getting the urge for something sweet. I ate a small about of brown rice and
that has helped.
I'll have some parsnip or sweet potatoe later as well.
The urge for sugar is not as strong as it has been but I know I need some
carbs, I just don't want to give my body the huge sugar spike that refined
carbs do.
