Paul Ritts, gluten free baker/Philadelphia
Thursday, April 11, 2002, 7:00 p.m.
(Freehold, NJ) - The Central New Jersey chapter of R.O.C.K. (Raising Our
Celiac Kids) is holding a special meeting on Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m.
at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Symmes Road in Manalapan, New
Jersey.
We are honored to have two special guests:
Gluten Free Cookbook Author, From Ohio, Connie Sarros, author of Wheat Free
Gluten Free Dessert cookbook and Wheat free Gluten Free Reduced Calorie
Cookbook will present baking and cooking in a gluten free kitchen and the
special dietary needs of celiacs.
Her books feature hundreds of delicious recipes for cakes, tortes, cookies,
dessert crepes, pies, fruit desserts, low-calorie desserts, puddings and
more. All of them wheat and gluten free, designed specifically for those with
wheat allergies or gluten intolerances. The book also offers a list of
gluten-free foods and food additives, as well as a page of "hints" on how to
successfully convert wheat recipes into gluten-free recipes. She will also
discuss her new book, a special gluten free cookbook for children.
Mr. Ritts Bakery, From Philadelphia, Paul Ritts will inform members about the
many gluten free products he creates at his small bakery in the heart of
South Philadelphia, and also as a mail order company. Mr. Ritts Bakery
caters almost exclusively to the Celiac community and offers gluten-free
desserts virtually indistinguishable from original wheat based products. They
say virtually, because many of their products actually taste BETTER converted
to a gluten-free recipe. Pre-order bakery item forms are available by
contacting Sue at [log in to unmask] or 732 462 4660.
R.O.C.K. is a national support group that assists families of children on a
gluten-free diet. Celiac disease is a common, yet underdiagnosed digestive
disorder that requires lifelong adherence to a gluten-free diet. Other
members of R.O.C.K. include families of autistic children, as evidence
suggests that autistic kids who adhere to a gluten-free/casein-free diet
often show remarkable improvement.
The R.O.C.K. meeting is open to the public. For more information, contact
Sue at 732 462 4660 or email [log in to unmask]
