Justifying wrongs being perpetuated by the Gambia Government is
one of our problems as Gambians. The least one can do is speak
out against injustice. Evil prevails only when good men and women
stand idly by. If those journalists were singing Jammehs praises,
they will not labeled "uncouth" in Gassama's book. Besides all
that, instead of the NIA taking the laws into their own hands,
dont we have "courts"? Is intimidating journalists by torturing
them the right way out?
People do not care what happens to folks they have no interest
in or are not related to. The pain never registers until it
hits close to home. There is nothing in what the gentle man
wrote in his article that warranted the torture metted out to
him.
For people like Pa Modou Gassama, I am not the least
surprised by his stance. If one of your family members was at
the receiving end of torture, you shall be singing a different
song. As inconsciousnable as you are, if Alhagi Mbye was your
blood, sycophancy will not have blinded you from the truth.
Always remember though that, what goes around comes around. No
condition is permanent and the APRC will not rule The Gambia
forever. Try speaking the truth, for that alone is everlasting.
There is no justification whatsoever for torturing your fellow
human beings. But if one is not human, they can never see this.
