I have no doubt that this made sense at the time (the curving hall sounds
nicer than a hard right angle in a back hall that might not have accommodated
moving furniture), and that there were carpenters, woodlathers and plasterers
who knew how to build it, as opposed to a bunch of guys used to building
straight lines who got stuck trying to bend sheetrock.

Down heah we generally frown on the use of panties as WCs. Different
strokes, Ah reckon.
