There are several programs that will not run on W2K. There are also several
programs that will not run on XP. Both OS are built on the same engine. It is
my under standing that if a program has to access certain hardware functions
directly instead of thru the OS, they will probably not work on either. This
is what makes these OS as stable as they are. If the OS controls hardware
access, than your system is allot less likely to become unstable because it
is now shielded.
Many games are unable to run on either system for this reason. There are also
I"m sure, hundreds of other applications that will not run on either OS. With
XP slowly becoming the standard, I think that you will see patches for most
major programs that will correct these conflicts.
