Torture for HP?

Recent news reports on NPR that environmental protesters in Oregon had pepper
spray dabbed in their eyes, combined with negative connotations of the word
"preservation" in areas such as the NW US -- I'm curious if anyone has ever
heard reports of an individual enduring physical torture in respect of their
being an historic preservationist?

If you are a poet in a repressive country you can be imprisoned... does the
same ever happen to a preservationist? Obviously if you try to preserve a
repressed past you may have a problem with the current regime. Is there any
place else I can go with this inquiry, such as to Amnesty International?
