No, the sound card does not affect the recording of CDs or CDRWs. Even during
playback, with the exception of very cheap sound cards, you will probably not
notice a difference in playing back MP3 or WAV files either. The best thing
you can do is purchase a high quality speaker system with a built in high
power amp.
