Brother - In - Law has an Acer Aspire 2177.
HAD
32M 66 Mhz RAM
266 Pentium II
NOW HAS
288M 66 Mhz RAM (put mem in after surrender to CPU problem)
333 Pentium II (running at 300 best)
Problem:
Whenever you boot the computer, it says this:
"CPU BIOS Update Code Mismatch
Equipment Configuration Error
Ctrl-Alt-Esc for Setup
or
F1 to continue"
If I CAE, I go into the BIOS where the CPU speed is not adjustable.
If F1, the machine boots.
I have set the jumpers to the "9/2" setting per
Acers info page for this model.
http://www.acersupport.com/desktop/aspire/html/v65la_jumpers.html
This gives me 300 Mhz.
Other settings give 133, 300, 266 (default) and so on.
What do I have to do to get it to 333 (as it is supposed to) and make it
happy on boot up?
Can anyone explain the "S1" settings?
Not sure what they mean, how I SHOULD be setting them.
