That would indicate her modem is still working. Try opening
Internet Explorer (IE), go to tools-->Internet
Options-->Connections. Make sure your ISP is set as default in
'Dialup settings'. You might have to click 'Setup' and run the
Internet connection wizard and choose your modem and dialup
connection and dialup # again (have your ISP dialup info handy)
(ISP entry should already exist if your she's currently able to
connect to her ISP). Dial up and open IE browser.
If Netscape, go to Edit-->Preferences-->Advanced-->Proxies and
'Direct Connection to Internet' should be chosen.

Hi Everyone
A friend thinks her modem was fried during an electrical storm
and she can no
longer cruise the internet BUT she can get her email. So wouldn't
that
indicate that her modem is still working? And maybe some settings
or
drivers have been messed up? Maybe it's a problem with her
browser? I'd
like to help her out, if I can, by sending her some suggestions.
She
hasn't given me any info on her system but I could probably get
it if
necessary.
TIA
Heather
