>Teri Gross of NPRs Fresh Air interviewed Michael Pollan, author of the
>'Power Steer' article in last sunday's NYT magazine. Good article,
>(someone graciously posted the link) and some scary details about
>modern cattle and corn farming. More pro grass-fed beef than anti-meat.

What surprised me today was a statement made by CNN saying that McDonalds
and other fast food restaurants were importing more and more beef from
overseas because the meat raised in the States was not pasture raised and
the foreign meat was.

They said that the grain fed meat made for a too-fatty hamburger and so our
fast food chains had to look elsewhere for pasture fed beef. I had no idea
that was going on. I would think that, in time, the almighty dollar will
win out and more pasture fed beef will be raised in the States.
