this is a small, relatively inconsequential question,
but I came to Paleo by way of Natural Hygiene, which
has a lot to say about proper food combining. Eating
fruit after other, more "solid" foods is a big no-no,
because these other foods take longer to digest than
fruit and when the fruit gets stuck behind these
slower passing foods in the digestive tract the sugars
cause fermentation and gas. So they say that fruit
should always be consumed on an empty stomach.
My question is whether people here do ok with eating
fruit in combination with other foods, and experience
no problems with it. I'm willing to consider that the
Natural Hygiene laws might be wrong. They also say not
to combine different kinds of protein at the same meal
(like meat and dairy, or even chicken and beef) and
not to combine protein foods with carbohydrates (no
meat with potatoes, no cereal with milk - these are
combinations that usually wouldn't happen in Paleo
anyway).
