I TOTALLY relate. Because of my allergies I was DETERMINED to breastfeed
for at least a year. At 6 months she got teeth and started to bite---HARD!. A LOT! After
about the 10th time she drew blood I had to call it quits. I felt HORRIBLE. But the truth?
I breast fed for 6 months, and my baby was sick the ENTIRE winter. Nothing serious, but she got every cold in the book.
My friend coudn't breast feed at all (she too felt horrible about it)---and her baby didn't get sick once!
So---so much for the theory that it keeps babies from getting sick. Also, a lot of docs say that the baby
really gets all the benefits of breast feeding in the first six weeks. I think breast feeding is WONDERFUL
and a great thing to do, but it has to be more important to have a relaxed happy mommy and a happy baby!
And by the way---if you hold the baby close when you feed him with the bottle, you can still have the same bonding
experience!
