Years ago, David was tested for food allergies - and everything showed up
negative... despite the fact that he IS allergic to MANY things, including
(of course) dairy. I have recently made an appt. with a wonderful pediatric
allergist that works in the hospital I work in. Since then I have
discovered two things about David's previous allergy test, which I want to
pass along:
1. They used the cream that numbs his skin so he would not feel
anything. Guess what? That cream negates the test!
2. He takes (and took) Tagamet four times a day for reflux
(Cimetidine). That is a histamine blocker, which negates the test! For his
upcoming tests, he has to be off Tagamet for SEVEN days. Not sure how I
will do it.. I have to talk to our GI doc.
So, as I have always said, there are a million quacks out there - including
the first allergist we went to!
