Hi:
1) did you check the modem setings in the device manager for the laptop
and compare them to the ones in the desktop?
2) did you try a different laptop modem?
a) if it is built in, you can disable it and try either a pcmcia or a usb
external modem.
You should have one or the other available to you.
3) did you check the IBM website and see if others with similar model
laptop have a similar problem or is a upgrade (firmware) was available for it?
