Rick:
Most newer motherboards have a jumper which is used to clear the CMOS and
restore the default settings. You will find the procedure in the motherboard
manual. I have vague recollection that it can also be done on older boards by
pulling the battery, waiting a while (20 minutes?) to make sure that the
memory is completely discharged, replace the battery and boot. With either
method, the power cord should not be plugged into the wall -- otherwise the
memory won't be erased.
